At first artificial insemination was held with “raw” sperm and women during the procedure often experienced a painful shock, and as a consequence – an inflammation of internal genital organs. Over time artificial insemination has become more sophisticated and effective: specialists began to conduct it along with ovulation stimulation, to control the ultrasound and make sperm tests of donor sperm etc. However, a breakthrough in the treatment of infertility was in vitro fertilization.
