In Germany, the reformation of the Embryo Protection Law is being currently more discussed. The members of the National Academy have recently requested to give the right to genetic engineers to work with embryos. According to their words, the implementation of this request is an essential for studying the methods of blocking a number of diseases and pathologies developing at the stage of the fetus. Thus, this investigation has an important meaning for surrogacy. Naturally, many scientists and lawyers did not pay much attention to this idea, though it was enough to rise discussions. 11 scientists in different studies, among which almost all of them are the members of Leopoldin Academy, set up a riot against embryo protection.
The scientists claim, that such embryos without any chance to be implanted must be used for the investigation with the consent of parents. The authors of this idea are an intercourse group of Academy members and followers of this liberal approach for a long time. It is about the possibility to create synthetic embryos, namely the creation of removable cell constructions with the help of programmed body cells regulated in the Petra cup, as well as the production of sex cells from the body, which can be used for creation of embryos.
Nowadays three working groups from the National Academy are working to prove that interference will not cause the appearance of such diseases as cancer for the genetically modified people.
In China, genetic experiments were restarted using only best quality and potentially ready to be implanted embryos, that is inapplicable in the West.
Some lawyers and biologists agree that the tendency to the liberalization as well as the necessity to follow the pace of progress require the reformation of the law. To their mind, there are many gaps in it needed to be filled. Moreover, it is essential to discuss the topic to have the possibility to meet the challenges of modern medicine. It is only the outcome of collision between two groups of liberals and conservatives to be awaited.
