Moderate regular (at least 30 minutes 3 times per week) physical activities help to improve the quality of sperm, as scientists claim.

One in seven families in Britain has problems with conceiving a baby and thousands of such families apply for the procedure of IVF annually. In these circumstances even regular walks outside can boost the sperm quality, experts note.

Iranian doctors from the University of Urmia conducted a research among 261 men at the age of 25 to 40 without any health problems. All the participants led a sedentary lifestyle, but their sperm looked healthy and the quantity of sperm cells was normal. The men were divided in 4 groups. The first one did not take any exercises; the second one was prescribed to have moderate (30 minutes running) activities 3 times a week during 24 weeks. The third group exercised with the same frequency but with more intensity (an hour of running). The trainings of the fourth control group were super intensive (10 scampers for one minute with very short periods for the recovery).

As a result, the training men of three groups lost some weight. The quantity and the quality of semen boosted. What is interesting, the best results concerning the quality were shown by the members of the group with moderate trainings. In comparison with the couch-potatoes from the first group, the amount of their ejaculate gained 8,3% and the sperm activity increases by 12,4%, the concentration increased by 14,1% and the amount of sperm cells increased by 21,8%.

With the stepped-up pace of exercises, though, the quality of semen decreased. After giving up training the positive effect leveled down in a month.

As the experts remind, obesity stimulates reproductive ability degradation. Every third participant was overweight before the experiment. So, keep up exercising!
