Pregnancy and green tea

 

Pregnancy requires a woman to reconsider her diet. Some foods and drinks are undesirable. In strictly limited quantities, pregnant women can use tonic drinks based on caffeine, including green tea.

Green tea is a delicious and healthy drink, but during pregnancy its use is strictly dosed. This is due to the presence of caffeine in the composition. Daily use of the drink should not exceed the norm which is 3 cups. Do not forget about the other sources of caffeine like chocolate and coffee. Moderately consumed, they can positively affect the condition of the woman and her child, if they do not contain artificial colourants or preservatives. By the way, tea helps to cope with toxemia and charge energy the next day.

In the first trimester of pregnancy, daily intake of infusion from tea leaves is desirable to reduce to 1-2 cups a day. If possible, you should completely abandon the drink. A good alternative to tea in this period will be juice.

In the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, tea helps a woman stay in a positive mood. During this period, there may be problems with the vascular system. Drinking tea strengthens their walls, giving them elasticity. This effect is achieved by the presence of vitamin P. Because of the content of the vitamin C, the immune system is strengthened. It allows you to withstand catarrhal diseases, the appearance of which is undesirable at a later date. During pregnancy, tooth enamel is often destroyed. Green tea promotes its strengthening, which reduces the likelihood of caries formation.

It is undesirable to use green tea in the afternoon. The best option is to drink 1 cup in the morning. The maximum allowed amount per day is no more than 3 cups. It is not recommended to drink a drink while eating. You should wait about 30-40 minutes.

Abuse of a drink is addictive. To reduce its use is recommended even at the stage of pregnancy planning. Sharp refusal in the first trimester can cause a negative reaction from the nervous system. Exceeding the recommended daily dose makes green tea harmful to health. The disadvantages of its use include: a decrease in the rate of assimilation of folic acid; increased risk of iron deficiency anemia; development of addiction; irritation of the walls of the stomach. The decrease in folic acid during the intake of caffeine in the body affects the development of the child in the first trimester of pregnancy. Its lack leads to pathologies of the neural tube of the fetus. Supplementary intake of folic acid cannot fix the situation.

There is no strict prohibition on the use of this type of tea but despite of this, a woman should be careful when consuming it during pregnancy, especially speaking about surrogacy, when a woman carries somebody`s child. In this case the level of responsibility grows.
