ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is a procedure of an injection of sperm in the cytoplasm of the women’s egg and is done under a microscope using different micromanipulation devices. In order to obtain fertilization “in vitro”, it is necessary to add to each of the egg of at least 50,000 actively motile and morphologically normal sperm. The technique of micromanipulation “injects” the sperm directly into the egg and thus achieves its fertilization. Sometimes pregnancy is possible even in cases when there are no male ejaculate sperm: sperm (and sometimes sperm precursor cells) is obtained by puncture of the testicles and their appendages, and their injection into the egg.
